Fireworks weren’t the only thing exploding at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Critics are coming out in droves, blasting the event for its pageantry of drag queens and other performers who ridiculed the sacred biblical scene depicted in Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper.”

Jillian Michaels, star of The Biggest Loser star addressed her “fellow gays” for making a “mockery of something sacred,” and Caitlyn Jenner, calling out the “absurdity” of the show,” says she’s “outraged.” Keep reading to learn why stars are fuming over the opening ceremony!

Christians around the world were left shocked after the 2024 Paris Olympics’ opening ceremony segment that recreated Leonardo da Vinci’s religiously themed “The Last Supper” painting with drag queens.

Da Vinci’s painting, sacred to billions of Christians across the world, shows Jesus sharing a last meal with his disciples before his crucifixion.

The Olympics showed almost 28 million viewers a feast enjoyed by drag queens, a scantily-clad Dionysus seated on a platter, and Barbara Butch, a plus-size lesbian DJ in the centre.

The tableau, intended to serve a message of inclusivity, instead served a heap of controversy.

    Hypocritical
Jillian Michaels, the star of The Biggest Loser had lots to say about “The Last Supper” parody.

Addressing the LGBTQ+ community on social media, Michaels, writes, “Dear fellow gays. We demand tolerance and respect but then make a mockery of something sacred for over 2 billion Christians. This type of hypocrisy and lack of understanding is a bad look.”

The trainer, who married wife Deshanna Marie Minuto in 2022, continues, “We get outraged when the extreme right bashes us, but then we do this sh**. What kind of reaction do you think they will have towards the LGBTQ+ community after this. This is NOT how we break down barriers it’s how you build them.”

Comedian Rob Schneider suggested the controversial performance celebrates “Satan” and says he is boycotting the rest of the Paris games.

“I am sorry to say to all the world’s greatest athletes, I wish you all the best, but I cannot watch an Olympics that disrespects Christianity and openly celebrates Satan,” the comedian wrote. “I sincerely hope these Olympics get the same amount of viewers as CSPAN.”

NFL player Harrison Butker, kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, fired up the internet by sharing a video of the scene on X, and adding to it a verse from the bible.

Butker writes “‘Be not deceived, God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap. For he that sows to the flesh shall reap corruption from the flesh; but he that sows to the Spirit shall reap everlasting life from the Spirit.’ – Galatians 6:7-8.”

Meanwhile, Piers Morgan tweets “Btw, what the f*ck was all this about? A drag queen mockery of the Last Supper at the Olympics? Would they have mocked any other religion like this? Appalling decision.”

Later, in his column for the New York Post, Morgan shares that he “could barely believe” what he was watching as “The Last Supper drag parody played out.”

“And to give you some idea of the scale of the offense caused, my opinion has so far had 11 million views and been “liked” 163,000 times – by far the biggest response to anything I’ve posted in several years…The comments were almost universally furious, and I fully understand why.”

Caitlyn Jenner, who like Michaels is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, tweets: “As an Olympian and a Christian (and you don’t have to be either to see the absurdity here) I am outraged.”

Referring to the Olympics claim that the scene was an “interpretation of the Greek God Dionysus makes us aware of the absurdity of violence between human beings,” Jenner pens, “Not really seeing how the opening ceremony image was more like this Greco feast as opposed to a more blatant mockery of Da Vinci’s Last Supper…”
